Requirements For Pre-degree Programme In Nigeria

Applicants for admission into the pre-degree programme are expected to have a minimum of five O’ Level Credits at one or two sittings including English Language; credits in Mathematics and three other Science subjects for all Science based courses; credits in Mathematics and three other Social Science subjects for all Social Science-based courses and credits in four Arts subjects for all Arts based courses.

Eligible candidates are also screened for admission through an entrance examination.

a) Pre-Degree (REMEDIAL)

  1. The programme runs from Eight to twelve months

  3. It requires that you register for JAMB before admission
  4. O’ level result must be complete before applying for the programme.
  5. Accepted by just one institution (the institution running the programme)
  6. Not accepted for all courses (e.g Medicine)
  7. Remedial Result expires after 1 year

b) IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board)

  1. It is a fixed nine months programme
  2. Admission is offered into 200L (year 2)
  3. IJMB Doesn’t require UTME before final admission as admission is by direct entry (DE)
  4. IJMB Accepts incomplete O’level and awaiting result
  5. It is widely accepted by 75% of all Nigerian universities
  6. It accepts all courses especially medicine, law, and engineering
  7. IJMB Result expires after fifteen(15) years
  8. Lectures are A level, thus it prepares a student for university education.
